After Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast, I wanted to contribute to the relief efforts,
but do not work for an employer that matches contributions. I formed this website
after searching the Internet for companies that were matching consumer
donations. To my surprise, I found many companies willing to match, but I
discovered that no central database existed to catalogue and disseminate the
information.
I think this website will be useful for any person who wishes to donate to a cause,
but would like to see their donation go further. Although disaster relief always
elicits many matching opportunities, matching programs and challenge grants exist
year-round. I will continue maintaining this website for all matching opportunities in
the hope that individuals will check the site prior to making their donations.
My goal is to help organizations reach their matching pledges in order to maximize
charitable giving.
